Here in Boardman Country, July 5th has been an important day to us for the past five years. It was this day in 2003 that we lost my dear sister, LeaAnn Henninger, to an auto/pedestrian accident.
Today’s post, therefore, is a remembrance of Annie and her life. I was asked to read the following eulogy at her July 13th memorial service. Isn’t it fitting that as I look out the window this morning the daisies are out?

It was a scary day seven years ago this month when my wife Carrie underwent her lumpectomy and received the news: Breast Cancer.
With the rate at 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer each year, we must come to grips with the fact that it won’t always be someone else. The cliche’ can stand no longer.

I believe we all experienced a jolting sadness on Friday when the news began to reach us about the sudden passing of Tim Russert of NBC’s Meet the Press. Of course, most of us didn’t actually know him. He was just the guy we saw in the saddle every Sunday morning as he roped, threw, hog-tied and branded most of the politicians who were “guests” on his show. Tenacious.
