So you think YOU can…sing? Listen to THIS!

Author: Brad  |  Category: Boardman Views, Faith, Music

For those of you still getting to know me, let me say that singing is one of my absolute favorite pastimes.

I started early. I can still remember the first choir I sang with: The Children’s Choir at Steel Lake Presbyterian Church down in Federal Way. You should have seen us with our little white robes and great big bows! I hadn’t grown my beard yet.

At Steel Lake Elementary School we learned about notes and rhythm. I remember singing, “Oh Do You Know the Muffin Man” as a round.

Well, as it turns out, I’ve sung in choirs and ensembles and quartets and trios all my life and can’t say loudly enough: I LOVE IT! As Pastor Marty says, “There’s just something about singing with a group that gives you some perspective. You’re involved in something bigger than just yourself.”

Needless to say, when I hear music that gives me goosebumps or that makes me weep, I just have to share it with someone. Today that someone is you! You’re in for a treat here so get ready to give five minutes of your undivided attention to this video. You’ll be glad you did! Let ‘er rip!

Voices of Lee and Four Voices: All Rise!

Yep, for all you tenors out there that last note was a B flat! In my dreams!

The Voices of Lee are from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. This performance took place, I’m told, at the tale end of a Barbershop Quartet Championship in Montreal back in 2003. The soloist here was part (bet you can’t guess which part!) of the Four Voices quartet that competed at that event.

At any rate, what an awesome musical portrayal of what the throne room of heaven may be like.

There was a holy hush all over as I walked into the room.
As I stood before Him face to face I was gloriously made new.
There was great and awesome presence and a light as light as day
And as I bowed to kneel with the angels I heard the Spirit say,

“All Rise! All Rise!
Stand before the throne in the presence of the Holy One!
All Rise! All Rise!
As we worship the Messiah,
All Rise!”

Then I looked at those all around me with their hands uplifted high.
And the Spirit laid His hands on me and I uplifted mine.
We were singing “Hallelujah!” and praises to His name
And as I bowed to kneel with the angels I heard the Spirit say,

“All Rise! All Rise!
Stand before the throne in the presence of the Holy One!
All Rise! All Rise!
As we worship the Messiah,
Singing Holy, Holy, Holy,
Singing Worthy is the Lamb!
Who was and is and is to come
He is the great I AM!

Enough said.
